UPDATE
hey guys, just updating after a period of not updating once again! lol. I went to the gym this week, kicking my own ass. I took a risk and downloaded Channa Serenity’s wicked $$ e-book for us vegan weight lifters. I’m actually relieved in ways, because I desperately needed a meal plan for my goals. Now, I eat healthy, but I don’t eat to be lean. This coming week is my first challenge on undertaking this new diet adaptation. For the past week or so I’ve been cutting out processed carbs (go me!?). It’s been a little bit of a battle but I’m winning. I can’t wait to share the progress….especially because I feel disappointed with my first attempt at eating to get lean. It’s okay, though, that was just my bump in the road! Right?! Off to grocery shop :)

*EDIT* so excited to go to the gym tomorrow I may even show up in the wicked early AM before I go to the beach. LESSSDOTHIS!

Leg Day

Got my ass back in the gym yesterday. Did everything I usually do, including my ab workout. I forgot to do hamstring extensions but it’s alright. I did better than I would expect for missing the past two leg days. I woke up 30 mins ago ready to hit the gym for shoulders but my back, legs, bum, and abs are all sore. I could probably get away with working out my arms but I just got back into my routines and I do not want to have another injury on my hands! So, doing the responsible thing today. ugh!

Other meal plan things: I try to eat some sort of bean/legume for lunch, dinner or both every day. I really like chickpeas and lentils. I also eat big vegetable "stir fries" a few times a week made with steamed veggies, a little low sodium soy sauce, and a lot of grated ginger - really low fat but still with a decent amount of protein (at least 17 grams for under 300 calories). While I am by no means an expert in any of this, let me know if you have specific questions!

Usually soy, at every meal, with non starchy vegetables. For snacks I eat fruits or veggies with nuts (or vegan protein shakes) I avoid extra carbs ( bread, rice, pasta ect) and drink lots of water. This way of eating has worked really well for me and I highly recommend it! I started seeing results after just 10 days of cutting carbs and eating more protein.

update

SO I pulled a calf muscle and injured my knee so I’ve been out of the gym for 2 weeks. I also have sun poisoning. So I am looking forward to recovery because I’m dying to get back in there. Anyway! I have a huge favor to ask of anyone because I’m having a hard time manipulating my vegan “diet” for my specific goals (weightlifting and fat loss). I work well with structure and I’m always nervous that I’m not eating the right amount of foods for the best results

Apple Peanut Butter Banana Shakevegan, serves 1-2
1 medium organic fuji apple, roughly chopped1 cup vanilla hemp milk (or soy or almond milk)1 tsp ground flax seeds2 tsp creamy peanut butter1 banana (use all frozen banana for a more thick “milkshake” like texture)1 tsp maple syruppinch of salt1/3 cup frozen banana (optional for a thicker texture)1/4 cup ice

Chest Day

was yesterday

4x15 incline barbell bench press

4x15 dumbbell bench press

4x15 pec deck flies

4x12 cable crossovers

4x2 push ups

SUPER disappointed with my pushups. I haven’t worked out my chest in a month, and so I’m hoping I do much better next time. (I’ve been working out legs, arms, shoulders…losing concentration by end of week on gym)

new goal up the reps by one each week for push ups. Just last month I did ten so I know I can do it. KEEP GOING.video this week ayay!

RANT

As I look at my plate of organic sweet potatoes drizzled in nectar and cinnamon, sauteed mushrooms and asparagus in lemon-garlic oil, and whole-grain rice patties baked in jalapeno sauce, I’m going to imagine what’s on your plate. Even if I wasn’t vegan, my food choices would still be better than yours. So I’m going to keep eating nutritionally dense foods until I am faced with a person who advocates the same eating principles and can make a standing argument that says that the way I eat is terrible for me.
